Swofford Creative

Hi! I'm Luke Swofford.
I help businesses with great services craft messaging that brings them the customers they deserve. I do this through organic and paid content strategy, video production, and SEO efforts as part of a comprehensive digital marketing campaign. I graduate from the University of Missouri in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Journalism in Strategic Communication.
Video Production
Video is in my blood. When I was a kid, I used to direct kids on the playground so we could "make a movie." As I got older, I was thrilled to get my hands on more equipment and fully learn the ropes of pre-production, production, and post-production. From the conceptualizing stage to final render, I have a wide range of video experience, ranging from elaborate music video shoots to business oriented short-form campaigns.

Digital Marketing
I work with businesses to boost their virtual presences and connect with new potential client bases, through a combination of social advertising videos and more general marketing efforts. With just $15 and a thirty-second ad, we booked Natalie a week and a half of nail appointments and more than earned back our investment.
Music
I write pop songs in my spare time. Releasing mononymously under my last name, I have applied everything that I know about Digital Marketing, Video Production, and Content strategy to build my music from the ground up. I now have over 20,000 followers on TikTok and 9,500 monthly listeners on Spotify. I'm living proof that my strategies work. (That's me performing on TV)

About Me
Hi! My name is Luke Swofford.I'm a member of Gen-Z and a true digital native; I've had my own computer since I was 3 years old. I am whip-smart with software and technical aspects of production, but I'm a pretty stellar communicator and strategist too! What can't I do? As long as you don't ask me to try to bowl a strike or hit a baseball, we should be good!I love Indian food and quiet evenings at coffee shops. I'm a painter, musician, and photographer.I grew up in Branson, MO, and I moved to Columbia in 2021 to begin my Undergrad. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism at the University of Missouri's Journalism School, with which I expect to graduate in May of 2025.

Video Production
I'm a skilled Video Producer and Creative Director with a strong track record in bringing creative visions to life. With expertise in video editing, cinematography, and visual effects, I specialize in crafting high-quality, engaging content from concept from concept to final cut. My work is defined by a keen eye for detail, innovative problem-solving, and the ability to adapt to challenging production environments.I thrive in collaborative settings where creativity meets technical skill, and I'm always eager to take on new projects that push the boundaries of visual storytelling.
Ad: Reaper
As a musician, I am passionate about audio software. I created this advertisement for Reaper for a class project. To maintain balance between the voiceover and the music audio, I used sidechaining, which is an audio mixing technique I learned in the music world.

Music Video: Bad Boyfriend
Concept & Theme: A pastel-themed dinner party turns chaotic with a cake fight, capturing the song’s playful rebellion against conformity, inspired by 2010s pop videos and retro 60s aesthetics.Inspiration & Pre-Production: The concept was developed through two months of storyboarding, shot listing, and rehearsals, all carefully planned to align with the fun, rebellious vibe of the song.Collaboration and Execution: I led a 10-person team, coordinating the shoot with precision over six hours, ensuring every scene was captured as planned, using a mix of gimbal, handheld, and tripod shots.Technical Details: Shot with a Canon 6D Mark II, the video featured a tricky table-jump scene, executed using creative editing techniques to ensure both safety and visual impact.Challenges & Growth: Managing a large cast and complex scenes tested my organizational skills and creativity, but the successful execution of the video built my confidence in handling big productions.Proudest Achievement: The strong art direction and cohesive visual narrative of the video, which perfectly captured the playful, rebellious spirit of the song, is what I’m most proud of.

Ad: Polaroid
As a photographer, I am interested in analog film. I was challenged in my Ads Class to create an advertisement for a product, combining GoPro footage and other footage to make an outdoor advertisement. I used my Canon R8 and a GoPro 11 to create this Advertisement for Polaroid cameras and film, shot in front of a beautiful sunset on a wonderful autumn evening.
Music Video: Plastic
Concept & Theme: A darkly humorous take on the Barbie theme, blending 60s kitsch with a modern, edgy twist, designed to ride the wave of Barbie Summer 2023 with a unique, playful spin.Inspiration & Pre-Production: The concept was carefully developed with detailed storyboarding and location scouting, with a significant focus on green screen setups to achieve the desired visual effects.Collaboration and Execution: Faced with the sudden departure of our cinematographer, I took on both directing and cinematography, adapting quickly to ensure that our shoot continued seamlessly.Technical Details: I utilized Adobe Premiere for editing and After Effects for VFX, including complex green-screen compositing and innovative techniques like a fake focus pull using automation of Gaussian blur filters.Challenges & Growth: The experience pushed me to develop new skills in After effects, overcoming the inherent challenges of green screen work to produce a polished, professional final product.Proudest Achievement: I'm most proud of the seamless VFX work and the video's polished look, which defied the typical challenges of green screen production, contributing to over 1,500 views and positive reception.

Client: Natalie Grace Nails
Natalie decided to leave Engineering school behind last year to pursue her dream of owning her own nail shop, opening her nail business in the back of a barber shop in the summer of 2024.Frustrated with the lack of bookings and unsure how to reach prospective clients, she reached out to me for help.I helped Natalie build a useful web presence, with a Facebook and Instagram page, and designed a logo for her. We worked on her SEO, optimizing her booksy page to turn up in local google searches. We registered her with Google My Business and discussed content ideas she could make regularly. Most importantly, I went to her nail room and we did a photoshoot, to get material for socials and her website. Then, with the time we had left, we shot a 30-second video ad. I edited this ad and we decided to run it the very next day.To our amazement, a mere $15 spend on advertising doubled her follower rate and ended up booking out her business for a week and a half. What's the magic? It's the magic of good communications. See the ad ->
Client: Columbia Sneaker Exchange
Kobe is an education student with a passion for vintage clothing, sustainability, and secondhand shopping. He was overjoyed when the University offered him the opportunity to open his very own shop inside the official Student Center. (If you haven't been to Mizzou, this building is the heart of campus. Foot traffic to it and through it is immense.) He called it Columbia Sneaker Exchange, and he sells both vintage clothing and clothing by student-run brands.Things quickly exploded for Kobe, but he found it difficult to juggle both the sudden boom in business and managing his online presence, so he reached out to the student-run agency Matchbook Marketing (of which I am a member) and our team took on his account.Together, our team has worked through all of 2024 to build his web presence, including branding guidelines, a website, and a logo. Being our team's Production Lead, I managed all photoshoots, video shoots, and content strategy. We have worked with Kobe to produce fun and engaging videos that will connect with his target audience. Since taking over his account, we have increased his engagement by 150%. Client: Basenote
In 2022, during a very successful period of my personal TikTok account, I was contacted by Austere Agency to create social content for Basenote, a startup focused on music investment. My content effectively drove traffic to their platform, and the CEO personally reached out to me to express his satisfaction with the work. This content played a key role in elevating Basenote's online presence during its critical early stages.
